Job Description:

POSITION: YOUTH WELLNESS WORKER

WORK SITE: TSAWOUT FIRST NATION

START DATE: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

HOURS OF WORK: 14 HOURS PER WEEK

REPORTS TO: YOUTH WELLNESS COORDINATOR & HEALTH MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tsawout First Nation is seeking a part-time youth to acquire on-the-job training and work experience as a Youth Wellness Worker for the Tsawout Health Department. This position is responsible for supporting the Youth Wellness Coordinator in the overall development and implementation of the Tsawout Youth Strategic Plan (including programming and policy) in a manner consistent with the mission mandate and goals of the Tsawout First Nation.

 

Preferred Skills:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Good communication skills both verbal and writing
  • Organizational skills for program planning and event planning
  • Good knowledge and understanding of local community resources
  • Enjoys working with youth of all ages
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture, customs and traditions an asset

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A First Nation youth, 16-30 years of age
  • Standard First Aid, CEP & AED Certification (or must be able to successfully obtain/maintain these certifications upon hire)
  • Submit to Criiminal Records Check
  • Valid BC Drivers license in an asset but not required
  • Ability to work a variety of shift schedules, including evenings and weekends
