Douglas Treaty Elder's Working Group

altThe Douglas Treaty Elder's Working Group (DTEWG) is responsible for preserving and enacting rights for Tsawout community members as outlined in the Douglas Treaty (1850).  Areas of responsibility include:

  • Aboriginal Rights and Territorial Title
  • Specific Land Claims
  • Hunting and Fishing Rights
  • Repatriation of Ancestral Remains
  • Cultural Preservation Projects including:
    • Longhouse Reconstruction Project ( SNEPENEKS Cultural Society)
    • Language Preservation

The Douglas Treaty Elders Working Group aslo works closely with neighboring nations on Treaty related issues.
