Employment and Training Opportunity:

University of Victoria and Gulf Islands National Park Reserve Archaeology Field School Intern

Opportunity Description:

  • Participate in the University of Victoria and GINPR (Gulf Islands National Park Reserve) Field School.
  • Gain experience and training in archaeological methods and techniques through participation in field research projects.
  • Have an opportunity to learn about archaeology of the Salish Sea, including such topics as:
    • archaeology inventory and assessment
    • shell midden archaeology
    • clam gardens
    • landscape archaeology, and
    • cultural resource management
  • Be able to share your knowledge and understanding of Coast Salish culture and history with current and future archaeologists.

Interns will be required to stay at and participate in the field school similar to other students and submit a final report and presentation to local Coast Salish Park Committees.

May 6- June 18 ( breaks will be included during that time)

Rate of Pay
$16.47 / hr ( approx. $4,000.00)
