Environmental Assessment - Jesken Town Centre

E-mail Print PDF

An open house was held on May 23, 2013 to receive feedback and commentary on the findings and utilization of the Project Environmental Assessment.

The economic development and employment opportunities will be the focus of a future session.

The environmental implications of the project are being assessed pursuant to the STÁUTW First Nation General Requirements for Environmental Assessments on First Nation Land, which is Schedule B of the Tsawout First Nation Subdivision, Development and Servicing Law (2012). The Project Environmental Assessment will therefore be reviewed and evaluated by the Tsawout Land Management Committee for the approval of Tsawout Chief and Council.

The Project Environmental Assessment will identify and analyse the environmental and related social concerns and potential impacts associated with the subject project in order to:

  1. Meet the Tsawout First Nation’s environmental assessment requirements and obligations.
  2. Determine whether there are any environmental obstacles to advancing the project.
  3. Determine the degree and types of environmental management required for the project.
  4. Enable the above to be addressed and managed in the context of designing, planning, constructing and operating the project.
