Men’s Employment Program (10 weeks)

A HESS program: Health, Employment & Social Services program that helps to improve:

  • Employment Law
  • Guest Speakers
  • Goal Setting
  • Work Ethics
  • Work Experience
  • Computer skills
  • Self Assessment

This employment program is possible through social assistance, employment & training and health dollars.

The program began with 12 male participants from the Tsawout Community. It started with classes on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings for the first 4 weeks then in the fifth week, they started work experience at the Tsawout Band office for 13 hours a week.

Placements have been within Recreation, Lands, Administration, SNEPENEKS Cultural Society, Public Works and Salish Strait Foods.

Attendance has been excellent!
This employment program continues until September 26, 2013.

Women’s Employment Program (22 weeks)

A Partnership with Bridges for Women Society and Tsawout First Nation that includes:

• Dream Boards
• Goal Setting
• Work Ethics
• Employment Law
• Resumes & Cover Letters
• Computer Skills
• Field trips to UVIC, Camosun College & VNFC
• Self Assessments
• Work Experience
• Financial Management & Budgeting

This program began with 14 female participants from the Tsawout, Pauquachin & Tsartlip communities. Funding is made possible through Work BC via Beacon Community Services.

This employment program runs Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings and after the Labour Day weekend, the women will start work experience at the Tsawout office.

Attendance has been excellent!
This program will be completed on December 12, 2013.
